Ideas for making your wedding fun

I love it when weddings include fun activities for guests. The evening can be more interesting when the guests are a part of, not just witness to, your event. For this wedding in Portland, the couple had the DJ facilitate some Karaoke sessions throughout the reception. This was super fun and interactive for their guests. The more people drank the braver and more outlandish their performances! Even the bride and groom got a few songs in. It kept up the energy of the party and I had a lot of fun capturing all the ridiculousness :)

Another great idea I’ve seen at weddings include having caricature artists drawing the guests. This gives your guests an option to step away from everything for 10 minutes and walk away with something unique to them.

One other wedding had a short trivia session complete with prizes. It asked some questions about the couple and gave guests multiple choice answers to fill in. Some of the questions were invariably funny and/or embarrassing, adding a comical layer to the activity. Who doesn’t love a couple that can be vulnerable and silly about their life and relationship. Prized included small items from a coffee shop gift card to baskets full of wine and tasty snacks, which guests loved.

A live band is also always fun. Mix karaoke AND a live band at your wedding and you’ve got yourself a real shindig!

Okay, now for some words to help you lovebirds find me in the deep abyss of the internet. I am a wedding photographer shooting both digital and film photography in Los Angeles, San Diego, Tucson, Phoenix, Portland and beyond. Weddings in Los Angeles, Tucson and San Diego don’t require any travel fee. Beyond that and I’m very reasonable about travel. Now booking 2023 and 2024! Can’t wait to work with all my future couples.
