Dancing in the rain

I sometimes have couples ask me what my advise is for achieving their best pictures during their wedding. My advise is intentionally simple : be present, remember to have fun and keep a light heart.

Not everything will go to plan. I think I have had maybe 15 weddings in the over 350 that I’ve shot, go to plan. It isn’t something to aim for. When so many variables beyond your control are at play, it is best to concentrate on what matters, which is seeing close family and sharing laughs, tears and ridiculous dance moves with old friends.
Sarah and Daniel’s wedding sort of got a little rained out, and it shot so amazingly because the couple leaned into it with a positive attitude and an easy, nonchalant mindset.

This shift in perspective not only made for great pictures and an overall super fun wedding, but it shows their capacity as a couple to embrace challenges with optimism, shifting perspectives, and fostering adaptive problem-solving skills to not only weather life's storms, but emerge stronger, wiser, and more resilient than before.

I loved getting to know them and work to embrace their attitude in my every day life.
