In the heart of the old town of Santa Clarita, California, Joel and Erin embarked on their new journey of togetherness. Family and close, long standing friendships are not just a priority for them; it is the cornerstone of their union. As they exchanged vows surrounded by their nearest and dearest, it was evident that their love was not just about the two of them but an extension of the bonds that had shaped them. Every detail of their wedding, from the intimate ceremony in the venue's charming couryard to the joyous reception filled with laughter and heartfelt embraces, reflected their deep-rooted belief in the importance of their community.
From the proud smiles of parents to the playful laughter of siblings and the tender embraces of old friends, everyone there played a big part in their day. Hart & Main was the perfect venue for the couple to catch up with everyone, knowing that their journey together continues to be guided by the strength and warmth of their cherished ties.
A Candid Approach
In a world dominated by perfectly posed Instagram shots and meticulously curated photoshoots, there’s something undeniably special about classic, candid photography. I enjoy nothing more than capturing people in their most natural, unscripted moments and when the beauty of life unfolds in its rawest, most authentic form.
I appreciated how camera shy Erin was! It gave me a license to shoot their event in a mostly unscripted, candid fashion. Sure, the day followed a timeline, and some formal photos were directed, but there is a fine line between overly compromising a moment vs leaving tons of room for truly candid moments to occur.
It has taken me years to un-learn the clinically perfect poses in favor of keeping my cameras up and catching more fleeting, real moments. I’m really happy with this delicate balance I have shaped out for myself and I think my wedding couples really appreciate this approach.
One of the greatest pleasures of candid photography is its unpredictability. Not knowing what you’re going to capture is part of the charm. Whether it's the joy in a flower girl’s face as they run down the isle or the serenity of a couple sharing a quiet moment together, candid shots have a way of telling a story all on their own.
Moreover, candid photography often feels more personal. The images you capture are not just representations of people; they’re windows into their emotions, their personalities, and their world. These real images are the ones that I find to resonate the most whenever I look back on them.
Really hope to have more opportunities for weddings at Hart & Main. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite wedding venues in the Los Angeles area. Very tastefully curated space with tons of creative options within the venue and just outside of it in downtown Santa Clarita.
